The Philippine national women's football team is set to receive a cash incentive from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), pending board approval, for reaching the semifinals of the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup and qualifying for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The PSC said this on Monday as the women's squad paid a courtesy call to PSC chair Butch Ramirez, who was joined by PSC commissioners Celia Kiram and Arnold Agustin. However, they did not disclose the amount the team will receive, as endorsed by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

“We recognize the outstanding performance of our women’s football team and their historic accomplishment,” Ramirez said in the agency's flag ceremony.

The PSC chair also recognized the PFF leadership, headed by its president Mariano Araneta, its officials, and head coach Alen Stajcic. "The PSC has been very supportive of all our elite athletes and the campaign of the women’s football team," Araneta said in response.

Team co-captain Hali Long also thanked PSC for their support. “This is one of the pinnacles of our experience. We couldn’t have done it without the PSC’s support and all of you behind the scenes. You are all part of this achievement,” she said.

The lady booters qualified for the semis of the AFC Women's Asian Cup and booked a slot in the FIFA Women's World Cup after defeating Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals last January. They fell to South Korea in the semis to wrap up their Asian Cup campaign.
