Azkals miss out on 2023 AFC Asian Cup spot

The Philippine national men's football team will miss the 2023 edition of the AFC Asian Cup.

While the Azkals ended up as the second best team in their group in the third round of the qualifiers held recently, only the five best second-placers from the six groups will advance to the tournament.

The Philippines had a goalless draw against Yemen, a 1-0 win against Mongolia, and a 0-4 beatdown against Palestine in the third round of the qualifiers.

Unfortunately, that was not enough to make the cut.

The Azkals made its Asian Cup debut in the previous edition of the tournament in 2019.
