Filipinas advance to second round of OQT with 4-0 win vs Hong Kong


The Philippine national women's football team is advancing to the second round of the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament after capping off a dominant run with a 4-0 win over Hong Kong at the Hisor Central Stadium in Tajikistan on Tuesday night.

The win saw the Filipinas finish the round with a clean 3-0 win-loss card after also winning over Pakistan and Tajikistan while Hong Kong wound up second with a 2-0-1 win-draw-loss slate.

Pakistan and Tajikistan will play each other later tonight to wrap up Group E. Only the top team from each group will move on to the next phase of the tournament.

Sarina Bolden shone for the Filipinas against Hong Kong, scoring the first two goals to give the Philippines a commanding 2-0 lead before Meryll Serrano completed another one in the 44th minute.

Quinley Quezada gave the World Cup-bound Filipinas the fourth goal early in the second half.
