U-22 Azkals score their first goal in 2023 SEA Games, draw with host Cambodia

The Philippine national under-22 football team punched its first goal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games as it eked out a 1-1 draw against host Cambodia on Tuesday night at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh.

Dov Cariño delivered the late equalizer in the third minute of stoppage to put the Azkals on the scoreboard. Cambodia's Ky Rina scored a goal in the 25th minute which gave the hosts the 1-0 lead early on.

The Philippines now holds a 0-1-1 win-draw-loss card in Group A after falling to Indonesia in their opening game day, 3-0. Cambodia, on the other hand, leads the group with a 1-1-0 slate.

The U-22 Azkals will go up against Timor Leste next on Thursday, May 4, at 8 p.m. (Manila time).
