Filipinas drub Malaysia to reach 2025 SEA Games semis
The Philippine women’s national football team, the Filipinas, booked a spot in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games semifinals after drubbing Malaysia, 6–0, on Thursday in Thailand.
Alexa Pino scored three of the Filipinas’ six goals, making her first at the 44th minute before halftime.
Pino then opened the country’s scoring spree in the second half with a goal at the 53rd minute, followed by Jessika Cowart at the 66th. Pino completed her hat trick via a penalty at the 69th minute, while Ariana Markey added another goal in the 85th. Anicka Castañeda sealed the victory with a goal in added time.
With the win, the Philippines finished in the top two of Group B with two wins and one loss, holding a +6 goal difference compared to Myanmar’s +2 to advance to the knockout stage.
The Filipinas will face host nation Thailand in the semifinals on Sunday.
