Filipinas win first gold medal in SEA Games women's football

The Philippines won its first gold medal in Southeast Asian Games women's football after dethroning defending champion Vietnam, 0-0 (6-5), in the gold medal match of the 2025 SEA Games on Wednesday in Thailand.

A penalty shootout was ultimately needed to crown a winner after a goalless draw in regulation and added extra time.

With the Filipinas ahead 6-5, a crucial save by Olivia McDaniel against Vietnam sealed the historic victory.
