US Open: Alex Eala awaits Iva Jovic-Francesca Jones winner: 'I wish them a great match'
Alexandra “Alex” Eala reached the third round of the US Open after dispatching Oleksandra Oliynykova, 6-1, 6-4, in the second round of the American Grand Slam on Thursday (early Friday, Philippine time).
Eala will now await the winner of the match between Iva Jovic and Francesca Jones, both of whom are her friends, to determine her next opponent.
The Filipina ace, however, simply wished the two well ahead of their match later today.
“Well, who I play in the next round is definitely out of my control, but they're both great friends of mine, both such amazing people and players,” Eala said in the post-match interview.
“So all I can do is wish them a great match and hope they have fun, and I'm sure they will both give it their all like everyone here.”
Eala recently faced Jovic in the “Stars of the Open” exhibition match, while she last faced Jones in 2020 in an ITF match.
