Alex Eala vs. Iva Jovic: US Open third-round match at Arthur Ashe Stadium

Good friends Alexandra “Alex” Eala and Iva Jovic will face each other in the third round of the US Open on Saturday (Sunday morning, Philippine time) at the biggest tennis stadium in the world — the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Eala-Jovic match is scheduled for September 5 at 7 p.m. (September 6 at 7 a.m. Philippine time).

Arthur Ashe Stadium has a capacity of around 23,000, making it the largest stadium at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Eala and Jovic previously played at Arthur Ashe Stadium in an exhibition match during the US Open fan week’s “Stars of the Open” event.

“I remember when I played the juniors here, I was thinking, when am I gonna get to play on this court? And this is my first time, like Iva, and there’s no one I’d rather share the court with,” Eala previously said.

Eala played her first two matches in this year’s US Open at Louis Armstrong Stadium, which has a capacity of around 14,000.

For the Filipina, however, what matters most is how she prepares for each match.

“My job is to be prepared for whatever court they put me in and whoever I’m against,” Eala said.
