What's next for Alex Eala after her US Open run ends?

Heartbreak in New York, but plenty more lies ahead.

Alexandra “Alex” Eala will now turn her attention to the next big challenges after suffering a heartbreaking end to her US Open run on Saturday (Sunday, Philippine time) at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

The 21-year-old Filipina put up a gallant stand against world No. 14 Iva Jovic, but ran out of gas in the endgame to suffer a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 loss in the third round and bow out of contention.

However, the fight is far from done for the Filipina ace.

Eala will now shift her focus to the WTA 500 Singapore Tennis Open in late September as she joins a star-studded field led by Mirra Andreeva, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula, and Donna Vekic, among others.

Eala is also expected to play in the upcoming Asian Games in Japan, where she will join the national team.

Eala will look to eclipse her previous Asian Games showing after bagging a pair of bronze medals in the women’s singles and mixed doubles events in the previous edition.
