Dayana Yastremska says Odesa apartment destroyed by Russian missile
Tennis player Dayana Yastremska said their apartment in Odesa, Ukraine, was destroyed by a Russian missile.
In a social media post on Saturday, Yastremska shared photos and videos of the damaged apartment.
“This is what the ‘Russian world’ looks like. A direct hit by a Kalibr cruise missile,” Yastremska wrote.
“A Russian missile destroyed our apartment in Odesa. The only thing that survived was a Roland Garros towel,” she said, adding that it was “symbolic” that the towel was the only item to survive the hit.
“Look at these images through our eyes. This is the true meaning of your ‘neutrality’ — from the Ukrainian side of the court,” she said, tagging the social media accounts of the Women’s Tennis Association and the International Tennis Federation.
The 26-year-old Yastremska is currently ranked No. 113 in the world.
