Asian Games: Levi Ruivivar stars as PH women's gymnastics team opens campaign

Filipino-American gymnast Levi Ruivivar spearheaded the Philippines’ campaign at the 2026 Asian Games, shining in the individual apparatus as the women's artistic gymnastics qualifications kicked off on Tuesday at the Nagoya General Gymnasium in Japan.

Ruivivar, who represented the Philippines at the 2024 Paris Olympics, currently sits second in the individual all-around while also ranking first in the uneven bars and second in the floor exercise after Subdivision 1.

The Philippine team, which also features Lauren Supnet, Haylee Garcia, Kylee Kvamme, and reserve gymnast Chiara Andrew, will have to wait for the results of Subdivisions 2 and 3 later to determine if they advance to the finals.

The 20-year-old Ruivivar impressed on the uneven bars, scoring a subdivision-best 13.166 points to rank first through their group while also garnering 12.900 in the floor exercise to emerge second.

She has a total of 50.065 in the all-around after also getting 12.666 in vault and 11.333 in the balance beam.

Meanwhile, another 20-year-old star Kvamme is running third in the all-around after an impressive 12.433 showing in vault and 12.233 in the floor exercise.

The Subdivision 2 is set for 1 p.m. today to be followed by the Subdivision 3 at 4:30 p.m.
