Carlos Yulo aims to showcase artistry, elegance in Asian Games floor exercise final

Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo is putting performance over results as he prepares for the men’s floor exercise individual final at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday.

For Yulo, the floor exercise is an opportunity not only to contend for a medal but also to showcase the artistry and elegance of his gymnastics, especially under pressure.

“Ang importanteng competition talaga for me is floor. Gusto ko talagang i-showcase 'yung pagiging artistic ng gymnastics ko, pati 'yung elegance. Ang tina-target ko talaga is ma-perform nang maayos kahit nasa nakakakabang sitwasyon. I really want to be graceful and focused on delivering a better performance, more than the result po,” Yulo said.

Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino said Carlos and his younger brother Karl Eldrew, who are both competing in today’s finals, are among the Filipino athletes with strong chances of delivering a medal, and hopefully a gold, for the Philippines.

More than 450 Filipino athletes are competing in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, with Team Philippines’ participation supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission.

The Asian Games is Asia’s biggest multi-sport competition and is widely regarded as the region’s most prestigious sporting event, bringing together the continent’s top athletes across dozens of sports.
