Carlos Yulo believes brother Karl Eldrew is in 'exciting part' of career

Asian Games gold medalist Carlos Yulo believes his younger brother Karl Eldrew’s time will eventually come even as the latter missed the podium in the 2026 Asian Games men’s floor exercise final on Thursday.

Carlos won the gold medal, while the 18-year-old Karl Eldrew finished seventh among eight competitors.

“I know he is disappointed and he is in that stage where he will really experience this kind of things. It’s unavoidable for us athletes. Part of the process of winning is to be challenged, lose, learn and make mistakes, and also to bounce back,” Carlos told POC Media in a mix of Filipino and English.

“For me, Eldrew is in an exciting part. He should not lose hope. I feel like he is a really talented kid. Whatever is his will eventually come.”

The brothers, along with teammate Juancho Miguel Besana, will compete in more apparatus finals.

Carlos and Besana will vie for the gold in the men’s vault final, while Karl Eldrew will compete in the horizontal bar final. Carlos will also compete in the parallel bars final.

Eldrew last year won a bronze medal in the Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships in the horizontal bar.
