Amaya Amparo Cojuangco bags silver in Asian Games archery
The arrows were on point on Thursday as Amaya Amparo Cojuangco added another medal to the Philippines’ haul at the 2026 Asian Games, bagging silver in the women’s compound individual event.
The 40-year-old Cojuangco fell short against Indonesia’s Nurisa Dian Ashrifah, 139-137, in the gold medal match.
This is the Philippines’ 19th medal overall and fourth silver at this year’s Asiad.
It was a neck-and-neck battle between the two archers, with both tied at 110 points after the fourth end.

However, Ashrifah pulled away in the final end, scoring 29 points to Cojuangco’s 27 to secure the gold medal, while the Filipina settled for silver.
Prior to the final, Cojuangco defeated South Korea’s Park Jungyoon, 142-141, and Iran’s Bita Asheghzadeh Oskouei, 146-135.
Cojuangco’s silver marks the Philippines’ first appearance in an Asian Games archery final. The country’s previous Asiad medal in the sport came in 2014, when Paul Marton Dela Cruz won bronze.
