What's next for Alex Eala after her first-round exit at Wuhan Open?

Alexandra "Alex" Eala is expected to continue her campaign in the Asian Swing of the WTA Tour following a shock exit from the WTA1000 Wuhan Open at the hands of a rising star from China.

The 21-year-old Filipina recently absorbed a 6-4, 3-6, 3-6 loss to world No. 217 Han Shi, a hometown bet who gave Eala her third straight loss to a lower-ranked opponent following a similar fate in the Singapore Open and the Asian Games.

Despite that, the fight is still on for the Filipina star.

Eala is listed in three other Asian competitions.

She is tipped to see action in the Ningbo Open in China, a WTA500 event that will also feature the likes of Iva Jovic, Jessica Pegula, Elina Svitolina, Iga Swiatek, and world No. 1 Elina Rybakina.

The tournament will run from October 19 to October 25 at the Ningbo Tennis Center.

Eala is also expected to suit up in the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Japan, another WTA500 event and the Hong Kong Tennis Open.

Eala, who is currently ranked No. 19, is seeking to bounce back from a series of heartbreaks in the past few weeks.

After a third-round exit at the US Open, Eala headed to Asia for the Singapore Open, where she lost to then ranked No. 180 Tatiana Prozorova in the Round of 16.

She skipped the China Open to represent the Philippines in the Asian Games, but she also fell short of the title after losing to China's Wang Xiyu in the semifinals to claim a bronze medal.
