Alex Eala turned back British wildcard Mika Stojsavljevic in her Set 2 fightback, completing a 6-1, 6-2 win in the Toray Pan Pacific Open Round of 32 on Monday in Japan.
The Filipina tennis star needed to survive three break points to close out Game 7 in Set 2 en route to the sweep victory that sent her into the Round of 16 against Talia Gibson for a chance to clinch her first quarterfinals appearance in the Asian Swing.

Eala came out firing in the opening set after claiming a sizable 5-0 lead over the 17-year-old Stojsavljevic but the British rising star pounced on Eala in the sixth game, unloading a pair of forehand winners to claim the game and stay alive in the set.
The Filipina bet flaunted her own forehand winners to finish it off in Game 7 and draw first blood.
Stojsavljevic continued to trouble Eala in the opening two games of the second set, forcing her into lengthy rallies before the Filipina managed to take a 2-0 lead.
Stojsavljevic, who won the 2024 US Open Girls' Singles, then won two of the next three games, including Game 5 that she sealed with a service ace.
But Eala retaliated by claiming the last three games. She survived three break points in Game 7 before firing back-to-back forehand winners to seal Game 8 and close out the match.
The win set Eala up against Gibson, a 38-year-old veteran who is currently ranked No. 38 by the WTA.
