Patrombon wins in Davis Cup debut for Philippines

Jeson Patrombon survived some anxious moments in the third set in posting a 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (4) win over Cyril Jacobe in his Davis Cup debut in their Group II Asia-Oceania first round tie Friday at the University of Saint Anthony in Iriga City, Camarines Sur. The 874th-ranked Patrombon gave the Philippines a 1-0 lead. The hosts are expected to go up 2-0 with Treat Huey holding a 6-0, 6-3 lead against Michael Leong in the second singles.
