Ikeda slows down, Rosales climbs to fourth in Thailand Ladies Open
Rookie pro Chihiro Ikeda, after a blazing start, slowed down with a two-over-par 74, paving the way for Jennifer Rosales to move up to fourth place after carding a two-under-par 70 in the second round of the Thailand Ladies Open at the Lakewood Country Club in Bangkok. Thai bet Tanaporn Kongkiatkria leads the way with a 139 after a 70. Rosales, taking a breather from the US LPGA Tour, already had a share of second place but was back-tracked on the 18th hole where she lost a stroke on a bogey mishap. Throughout the day, she was bothered by the strong winds, especially in the closing holes. "I was playing well until the winds came. I got a little undecided with the choice of clubs as the winds kept coming and going," said the 33-year-old Rosales, who has two LPGA victories. Rosales (70-141) shared fourth with Patcharachuta Kongkapan (72) of Thailand and Miho Mori (67) of Japan. Ikeda dropped four shots with bogeys on Nos. 1, 4, 7 and 10. Still, she shot two birdies on the second and fifth to stay in the hunt for the title in the kickoff leg of the Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT). Ikeda sits on seventh place to join four others (142). Dottie Ardina, the ICTSI golf team amateur stalwart, had her best outing of one-under-par 71 to be on 144 total, good for 16th spot. — Adrian Flores/JVP, GMA News
