KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia—Red-hot Dottie Ardina tries to sustain her winning form as she headlines the Philippine girls' team in the 28th Sabah Amateur Open at the Sabah Golf and Country Club starting Friday.
Ardina, 18, is fresh from her victory in the just-concluded WWW Express-DHL Amateur Golf Championship in Canlubang. Two weeks prior, she won in the RSGC AmBank Open in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
She tees off in the 8:40 am flight with the Malaysian trio of Tham Soot Yuet, Karen Liew and Raeysha Surendran.
"I feel good coming here. I hope to make it three-in-a-row," said Team ICTSI's No. 1 bet Ardina on the eve of the 54-hole championship, Malaysia’s leading amateur event that yearly attracts the regions top amateurs. Also competing for the PHL side are reigning national amateur champ Lovelyn Guioguio, current Hong Kong Am titlist Jayvie Agojo, Montecillo Cup winner Princess Superal and DHL Am runner-up Sunshine Baraquiel.
Kelly Tan and Nur Durriyan Damian, among the local bets, are the favorities. In the men’s side, Joey Huerva and junior golfer Sebastian Lorenzo are in the field. — Adrian Flores/JVP, GMA News
