CARMONA, Cavite—Princess Superal played well enough to remain in the driver's seat in the girls' Class A while Lloyd Go kept a cool round going despite the sizzling summer heat to seize the overall leadership in the boys' Class A at the halfway mark of the Junior World Championship national qualifying tournament at the Manila Southwoods. Superal, one of three ICTSI bets competing for a Junior World Championship slot in San Diego, made only two birdies on Tuesday but the last one came in the most appropriate time at the 17th to salvage a three-over-par 75 and 146 total in 36 holes of the four-day qualifier staged by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines. The petite Superal holds a 36-hole total of 146. Andrea Unson (72) and Marvi Monsalve (78) were next on 149s followed by Daniella Uy's 149 after a 72. Go, an integral part of champion Cebu Country Club's title campaign in the recent PAL Interclub, shot an even par 72 for 142 to grab the top spot from erstwhile leader Miggy Yee, who was off-form with a 76 for 144 spiked by a double bogey and three bogeys in the last 11 holes, in the chase for 17 slots to the Junior World tilt in May. Aguinaldo's Jelbert Gamolo scored an eight-over-par 80 on a scorching hot day at the Legends course to catch Gabriel Manotoc atop the leaderboard in the boys' Class B division. Gamolo finished with a 155, in a tie with Wack Wack's Manotoc, who limped with an 82. Raymart Tolentino fared better with a 78 and was currently on third place with a 156. Miya Legaspi continued to flash her form in the Legends layout, which she plays very often, shooting a two-under-par 70 to be on 144 in the girls' Class B. Legaspi was now four ahead off Pauline del Rosario's 148 after a 73. Filipina-Indian Rachita Vasandani was 11 off the pace with a 77 for 155. In the boys' Class C, Aidric Chan churned out a 76 for 151, two up on Wei Wei Gao's 77 for 153. Christopher Popp, winner in the recent Montecillo Cup, sits on 154 after an 80. — Adrian Flores/JVP, GMA News
