Jessie Lacuna failed to get through the 200m freestyle qualifiers at the 2012 London Olympics after finishing with a time of 1:52:91. Lacuna competed Sunday in Heat 2, finishing fifth in the group of six, 3.07 seconds behind heat winner Matias Koski of Finland. It was a tough group to be in, as Koski's heat-winning time of 1:49:84 only put the Finnish in 31st place, while Lacuna dropped to 36th place in a group of 40 participants. The 16 swimmers who posted the fastest times went through to the semifinals round. China's Sun Yang posted the fastest time with 1:46:24, followed by American Ryan Lochte (1:46:45) and Yannick Angel of France (1:46:60). The 16 semifinalists were further cut down to eight for the final round. Sun continued with his impressive showing, improving with a time of 1:45:61. Angel claimed the second spot heading to the medal round with 1:45:84, while Park Taehwan emerged to take the third best time with 1:46:02. - Renee Fopalan/AMD, GMA News
