Jasmine Alkhaldi failed to get through to the semifinals round of the 100m women's freestyle event Wednesday, after clocking in at 57.13 for 34th place at the 2012 Olympic games. The Filipina swam in lane six of heat three, along with seven other swimmers including fellow Asian Mylene Ong of Singapore. Alkhaldi's time of 57.13 was fifth best in her heat, and 34th best over-all in a group of 50 competitors in 100m freestyle. Tang Yi of China finished with the best time, clocking in at 53.28. Only the top 16 swimmers go through the semifinals round before the group is further trimmed to eight for the final round. Alkhaldi's male counterpart, Jessie Lacuna, also failed to qualify Monday. Lacuna finished 36th of the 40 competitors who swam in the 200m freestyle event. - Renee Fopalan / AMD, GMA News
