Davis Cup: Indonesia shocks PHL with doubles victory
The Philippine team suffered an upset loss against Indonesia on Saturday, as world doubles no. 39 Treat Huey and partner Ruben Gonzales were defeated by Chris Rungkat and Elbert Sie, 4-6 6-3 7-6(5) 6-2, at the Gelora Bung Karno Tennis Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. The national team initially selected Ruben Gonzales and Jeson Patrombon to compete against Rungkat and Sie for the lone doubles match of the five-game series, but Francis Casey Alcantara's loss to the number one Indonesian player Rungkat on Friday had the Philippines playing safe, selecting Huey who is currently ranked 39th in the world in doubles. Huey and Gonzales powered their way to win the first set 6-3, but ended up dropping the next three to Rungkat and Sie. With the loss, the Philippines must now sweep the final day of play on Sunday to win the series. Rungkat faces Huey in the first match, before Alcantara tries to rebound against Sie in the second game. Leading 2-1, Indonesia only needs to win one more two advance to the higher Group I for the 2013 Davis Cup. - AMD, GMA News
