Golf: Early darkness ends KLGCC Masters round early
Carl Santos-Ocampo of the Philippines carded a one-under-par 70 and stood three shots adrift in the opening round of the PGM-MDF-KLGCC Masters held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Malaysia. Santos-Ocampo, winner of a recent Mindanao leg on the local tour, lurked behind the 67 turned in by American Brian Locke for the clubhouse lead. Play was halted because of darkness. Some 60 players will have to return early next day to resume their openers in the $60,000 event of the Asian Development Tour (ADT). Malaysian Iain Steel followed Locke with a 68 and was tied for second with Chiang Chen-chih of Chinese Taipei at the East layout of KLGCC. Peter Richardson of England, currently second on the Order of Merit, was a further shot back with countryman Nick Redfern at the penultimate event of the 2012 ADT season. The ADT has grown from five events since its inauguration in 2010 and has expanded to a record of 13 events this year. The ADT will also be afforded with Official World Golf Ranking status in 2013, which is a huge boost for the development of the game in Asia. - AMD, GMA News
