Golf: Bayron stays in the hunt for first Asian Tour crown
Jay Bayron sizzled with a four-under-par 68 to suddenly find himself contending for his maiden Asian Tour crown in the $300,000 SAIL-SBI Open held at the Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi, India on Thursday. He added two more on numbers 1 and 2 to go four-under. However, he misread the green on the third hole for his only bogey for the round. He got it back with a birdie on the seventh for a two-day haul of three-under-par 141. With that, he jumped from 40th to tied for 16th place. "I need more games like this, to boost my confidence. Now, I have a pretty good chance of finishing strong, possibly on the top five," said Bayron, who topped the Asian Development Tour last year. The 38-year-old Davaoeño, down big after the first day, was now six strokes adrift from the leading pair of Indian rookie Khalin Joshi (69) and American Cham Kim (68) for identical 135s. Elmer Salvador mixed three birdies and two bogeys for a 71 and 143 (tied 28th) while Antonio Lascuna limped with a 73 for 144 (tied 39th). Miguel Tabuena also made a 71 for 145 (tied 51st). - RAF, GMA News
