Three Filipinos swim in heats of Barcelona world championships

Two Filipinos competed in two separate swimming heats in the FINA World championships in Barcelona, Spain on Thursday (Friday, PHL time).
 
Jasmine Alkhaldi clocked in at 56.37 in the 100m women's freestyle to place 35th among 73 swimmers. Cate Campbell of Australia led the heat with a time of 53.24.
 
Joshua Hall swam in the 200m breastroke with a time 2:19.16 and he ranked 38th in a field of 43.
 
FINA is the Federation Internationale de Natation, the world's governing body for swimming.
 
Hall also participated in the men's 50m breaststroke heat on Tuesday (Wednesday, PHL time), while Alkhaldi also swam in the women's 100m butterfly heat on Sunday (Monday, PHL time).
 
A third Filipino in the swimming world championships is Jessie Lacuna, who competed in the men's 100m freestyle heat on Sunday (Monday, PHL time) and men's 200m freestyle. — with Reuters/ELR, GMA News
