Sattaya Supupramai of Thailand quelled Antonio Lascuna's last-ditch effort and fended off Angelo Que's late run to rule the $60,000 ICTSI Classic at the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa City, Batangas.

Supupramai, tied with Lascuna at 16-under after the third round, pulled away at the front nine of the Mt. Lobo course with an eagle on the ninth hole. He finished with a 21-under 193 total to pocket the title worth $10,500.

The 42-year-old Lascuna, who couldn't get his putting game going on the back nine, settled for runner-up honors with a 70 for 196, good for $6,900.  He was followed at third by Angelo Que (69-273), who pocketed $4,200.

"I am happy to win," said Supupramai in broken English. Supupramai is a regular campaigner on the Asian Tour. This was his maiden victory on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), the step-up league of the AT.

Lascuna got to within two strokes of the Thai, but ran out of holes to mount a rally. His second shot on the 18th was short and landed on a bunker guarding the front side that dashed hopes of a comeback.

"I struggled with my putting on the final nine," Lascuna said in Filipino.

Que reprised his role of chaser again, just like what he did to beat Lascuna at the Orchard Golf a few months ago.  But he was just too far off from the pace as he stared at a four-shot deficit after 54 holes.

"I tried. Give also credit to Sattaya for he played well today," Que said.

Miguel Tabuena (64), Elmer Salvador (66), Korean Park Il-Hwan (69), Canadian Lindsay Reynolds (69) and Australian Darren Tan (70) were tied for fifth place with 276;s. Each received $2,070. - AMD, GMA News
