V-League: Meralco zaps PNP in four sets

The Meralco Power Spikers got big contributions from multiple sources to keep PNP winless, via a 25-19 25-15 16-25 25-23 victory, Friday at the FilOil Flying V Arena, in the Shakey's V-League Season 10 Open Conference quarterfinals.

Both teams are out of the running for the semifinals, but Meralco managed to improve their record to 2-7, while PNP slumped further to 0-9.

Meralco team captain Maureen Ouano scored 17 points, 10 from spikes, five from blocks, plus two via service aces, to lead her side. Guest player Coco Wang added 14 markers, Stephanie Mercado scored 13, all but two off spikes, while Fille Cainglet chipped in 11, with four services aces.

They also got a 23-17 edge in points off opponents' errors.

PNP lost despite two 17-point scorers, Frances Molina and Janine Marciano. Guest player Patcharee Sangmuang added 14, but it was not enough to stay in step with their foes. - AMD, GMA News
