Tennis: Huey, Gonzales dominate in Davis Cup doubles match against Sri Lanka

Treat Huey and Ruben Gonzales dominated in the lone doubles match of the series, scoring a 6-1 6-0 6-1 victory against Harshana Godamanna and Rajeev Rajapakse on Saturday in the first round of the 2014 Davis Cup Group II Asia/Oceania competition held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

 

With the win, the Philippines take the driver's seat, 2-1, in the five-game series. On Friday, PJ Tierro dropped the opening match, 6-3 6-7(8) 4-6 6-2 6-3, against US-based Godamanna. Ruben Gonzales took the game back with a 6-3 6-3 6-0 win against Dineshkanthan Thangarajah, before teaming up with Huey on Saturday for the quick doubles win.

 

Up next on Sunday are two singles matches, as Gonzales goes up against Godamanna, while Tierro hopes to bounce back with a win against Thangarajah. - GMA News
