Asian Games: Early exit for Pinoy weightlifting stalwart

Filipino weightlifter Nestor Colonia bowed out of the competition on Friday after failing in his three attempts in the men's 56-kg. class.

Colonia, who had expressed confidence of moving up in the Asian rankings prior to the event, failed to lift 120 kgs. in his first three attempts in the snatch.

"Hindi talaga kinaya e," Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Ricardo Garcia, who serves as chef de mission of the country in the games, told state-run Philippines News Agency. "All three attempts, nahirapan siya."

Om Yun-chol of North Korea struck gold, Thach Kim Tuan of Vietnam bagged silver, while  Wu Jingbiao of China won bronze. — JST, GMA News
