Asian Games: Archer Dela Cruz bags bronze for Philippines

Archer Paul Marton Dela Cruz added a bronze medal to the Philippine haul on Saturday in the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

The 28-year-old opened the day as part of the Philippine team in the bronze medal match. The Filipino archers fell short of the podium after losing to Iran, 227-224, in the compound event.

Dela Cruz then battled Iran bet Esmaeil Ebadi in the semifinals of the individual compound, yielding a 146-140 result.

But undeterred by earlier defeats in the day, Dela Cruz outsteadied Malaysia's Muhammad Zaki Bin Mahazan, 140-139, to win the bronze.

It was the fourth medal for the Philippines in the Asian Games, after two silvers and a bronze from Wushu. — JST, GMA News
