Despite being away from the spotlight, the national men's softball team have been delivering noteworth performances for the Philippines.

And the Blu Boys aim to do just that once more when they fly to Singapore for the 2015 edition of the Southeast Asian Games.

"This will be our team's fifth appearance in the SEA Games, the first four we all won gold. We are surely going for another gold this year. Our only rival in the tournament is Indonesia and we've prepared for them," said Blu Boys team captain Jasper Cabrera, who noted that the team has been hard at work building up for the tournament.

"We've started our preparations last year in August because we've also played in other Asian competitions,"

Last December, the team successfully qualified for the World Championship which will be held later this month. They placed second overall in the qualifying tournament, bowing only to Japan.

But the Blu Boys are not about to rest on their laurels. Already, the team is already in search of players who have the potential to represent the country in the near future.

"We've been touring provinces to do clinics and exhibition games," said Cabrera.

"We saw many young potential players in our tours. One of the team's agenda now is to look for talented players around the country." — JST, GMA News
