SEA Games: Another gold for PHL in men’s triathlon
The Philippines bags another gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games as Nikko Bryan Huelgas finished first place in triathlon men's individual on Sunday.
Huelgas clocked in 2:04:32, a minute ahead of Malaysia's Rikigoro Shinozuka who bagged the silver medal. Chuang Rong Loo of host Singapore, meanwhile, rounded up the podium with 2:07:01.
Loo had a head start in the swim course and Shinozuka kept pace with Huelgas in until the bike course, but the Filipino pulled ahead in the run course to bag the gold.
Another Filipino triathlete Jonard Saim finished at sixth place with 2:10:18.
Huelgas's gold is the third medal for the Philippines in triathlon, as Ma. Claire Adorna and Marion Kim Mangrobang notched the gold and silver in the women's individual on Saturday. — Marisse Panaligan/LBG, GMA News
