Filipino wushu artist Daniel Parantac won the gold medal in the men's optional taijiquan on Sunday, increasing the Philippines' Southeast Asian Games gold haul to three.

The Asian Games silver medalist duplicated his gold medal finish in the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar, in addition to leading the men's dual event-weapons to a silver medal.

He had a total score of 9.71 points, ahead of Malaysia's Jack Chang Lo with 9.69 and Indonesia's Julius Kurniawan with 9.68 points.

Meanwhile, three bronze medals were also added to the country's medal tally courtesy of gymnastics, women's rugby, and shooting.

The gymnastics team composed of Rachelle Arellano, Ma. Cristina Onofre, Elizabeth Leduc, Ava Lorein Verdeflor, and Sofia Isabel Gonzalez scored 191.4 points, enough for a third place finish behind Malaysia and Singapore.

The women's rugby team blanked Malaysia in the battle for third place, 22-0, while shooters Mar Udan, Jerome Jovanne Morales, and Lamberto Espiritu also bagged the bronze in the men's precision pistol team.

The Philippines now has three gold, six silver, and 11 bronze medals for seventh place, while host Singapore and Vietnam remain at the top of the standings. — Marisse Panaligan/JDS, GMA News
