SEA Games: Shooter Elvie Baldovino gives PHL seventh gold

Elvie Baldivino will be bringing home the seventh gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games after winning the women's indiviual pistol competition on Monday in Singapore.
 
The Philippine Navy special operations expert edged Singapore's Norizan Mustafa in the final for the honor as the Philippines remained in seventh place with seven golds, 10 silvers, and 20 bronzes. The host nation remained at No. 1 followed by Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar.
 
Baldivino earlier bagged another medal along with Carmelita Guillermo and Franchette Shayne Quiros, winning silver in the women's team practical shooting.
 
Meanwhile, Daniel Parantac settled for silver in the men's taijiquan event, losing narrowly to Singapore's Lee Tze Yuan. Parantac had earlier given the Philippines a gold in another wushu event.
 
Legendary Efren "Bata" Reyes and Francisco de la Cruz settled for bronze medals in the men's cushion carom event after falling in the semifinals, while Michael Mengorio had the same result in snooker.
 
Treat Huey, Francis Alcantara, Ruben Gonzales and Jeson Patrombon settled for bronze in men's team tennis after falling to Indonesia, 2-1, in the semis.
 
lost its semifinal duel with Indonesia, 2-1, to claim bronze in the men’s team event of tennis.
 
Filipina boxer Riza Pasuit, meanwhile, lost to Cristina Jembay of Indonesia in the women’s featherweight semifinals to claim for a bronze as well.
 
Other boxers fared better, with Josie Gabuco, Irish Magno, Nesthy Petecio, Roger Ladon, and Ian Bautista all reaching the finals.
 
Four other Filipino boxers were scheduled for semifinals bouts late Monday. —JST, GMA News
