Filipino Olympian figure skater Michael Christian Martinez has achieved a new personal best as he continues to rank among the world's top-ranked ice skaters.

The current 26th best in the world set his latest record at the ISU Grand Prix Audi Cup in China, where he finished sixth.

China hosted the Audi Cup in Beijing from November 6 to 8.

The Audi Cup judges gave Martinez a total personal score of 220.36.

He displayed his prowess on the ice in the free skating program for a personal best grade of 148.12.

Javier Fernandez of Spain emerged as the competition champion with a total score of 270.55.

Still absent from Martinez's short program and free skating program are the high-difficulty level quadruples that the world's higher-ranked figure skaters are able to execute.

He is being coached by John Nicks and Peter Kongkasem. His choreographer is Nikolai Morozov.

Martinez trains 15 to 25 hours per week in a skating season. Some of that training takes place in California.  — ELR, GMA News
