GMA News reporter Raffy Tima geared up for Ironman Subic
SUBIC, Zambales — GMA News anchor and reporter Raffy Tima is one of the many participants of the grueling Ironman 70.3 in Subic Bay, Zambales.
Tima, together with other triathlon pros and contestants, are slated to swim 1.9 kilometers, bike ride 90 kilometers then run for 21 kilometers before reaching the finish line.
"This is my second time here in Ironman Subic, the first one I also competed," said Tima, who admits that he didn't have the benefit of having a full blown preparation for the contest given his busy schedule.
"I don't have much training [heading to this competition]. I don't recommend that, but that's reality because there are lots of work, coverage, so if even if there's a planned training it always ends up getting interrupted because of my duties."
Nevertheless, the veteran GMA News journalist was still able to workout every now and then, and even feel he's in good enough shape to make it to finish the contest.
"Nakakatapos naman," answered Tima if he can actually finish the course despite his lack of preparation.
"It's hard to train given our jobs [as journalist]. So what I do is make sure I exercise and diet."
