Philippine swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi failed to advance in the Women's 100M freestyle swimming competition early Thursday morning (Manila time).

The 23-year old Alkhaldi placed third in her heat bracket with a record of 56.30 seconds. First in their bracket is Susann Bjornsen of Norway with 55.35 seconds, followed by Natthanan Junkrajang of Thailand with 56.24 seconds.

However, Alkhaldi's record was not enough to land a spot in the semis. Her record was 33rd overall out of 46 swimmers.

Australian tanker Cate Campbell topped the qualifying round with an Olympic record of 52.78 seconds.

The 23-year old Alkhaldi was also a part of the Philippine delegation for the London 2012 Olympics.

She made it to 34th place, clocking 57.13 seconds. — BAP, GMA News
