Japanese superstar Asuka won the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble Match in the WWE, even as former UFC champion Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance after the match to confirm her turn as a professional wrestler.

Rousey's entrance came as Asuka stood in the ring with Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss and Smackdown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair. Moments earlier, the former NXT champion eliminated Nikki Bella to win the Royal Rumble match that included a number of surprise entrants, including women's legends Trish Stratus, Beth Phoenix, Brie Bella, Vickie Guerrero, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly, Jacqueline, Molly Holly, and Lita, among others.

But the big news was Rousey's appearance, as she pointed at the WrestleMania banner indicating her desire to get in the ring in WWE's biggest event.

Rousey became a crossover superstar after a dominant run in the UFC's bantamweight division. But consecutive defeats to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, leaving her future in the sport in doubt. She confirmed with ESPN.com that she had signed up to be a full-time wrestler for the WWE.

Another Japanese sensation Shinsuke Nakamura won the Men's Royal Rumble Match, eliminating Roman Reigns for the victory. Rounding out the final four of the men's match were John Cena and Finn Balor, the iron man of the contest lasting 57 minutes after entering from the second spot.

Brock Lesnar retained his WWE Universal Championship after pinning Kane in a brutal triple threat match that also included Braun Strowman.

Cesaro and Sheamus captured the Raw Tag Team Titles for the fourth time after defeating Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan.

The Usos kept their Smackdown Tag Team Titles by sweeping Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin in a best-of-three falls match.

AJ Styles opened the show by defeating Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a handicap match to retain his WWE World Championship. --JST, GMA News
