Lady Tams outlast Lady Eagles in seesaw battle

The FEU Lady Tamaraws endured the 21-point outburst of Jhoanna Maraguinot to carve out a 19-25 25-21 18-25 25-20 15-9 victory on Sunday at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.

Toni Rose Basas and Bernadeth Pons had 14 points apiece to lead FEU, combining for 19 of the team's 34 attack points. Basas was also steady with her service, churning out six aces as Celine Domingo accounted for five to finish with 10.

Katrina Tolentino was the only other Lady Eagle in double figures with 14, while Julianne Samonte and Bea De Leon added nine and eight points, apiece.

The Lady Eagles edged FEU 42-34 in attack points, but the Lady Tams did their damage from deep, driving in 20 aces to Ateneo's eight. — DVM, GMA News
