Hard-hitting Kevin Belingon of Baguio City's Team Lakay wants to stay active and keep fighting as he eagerly awaits his shot at Bibiano Fernandes' ONE bantamweight world title.

The 30-year-old Belingon has won all of his last four fights against top tier competition since losing to Fernandes a couple of years ago.

Though the winning streak made it evident that Belingon is on the brink of getting another shot at the title, the Filipino fighter took a detour when he signed to fight Andrew Leone in the main event of 'ONE: Heroes of Honor' on April 20 at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

"I thought I was going to fight for the ONE bantamweight title but it was Martin Nguyen who got the fight," Belingon told GMA News Online.

"But that's okay since we are confident that my upcoming fight will have a positive result. I'm confident of winning this fight. I want to be an active fighter, I just want to keep fighting and winning and the title shot will come eventually," he added.

Leone, who is a renowned grappler from the USA, knows all too well that a win over Belingon would mean a step closer to another shot at the title.

The American believes his age, speed and height would spell trouble for Belingon, but the latter feels he has the right game plan to emerge victorious come fight night.

"I'm sure his game plan is to get me to the ground so we added more rounds on grappling and wrestling," Belingon revealed. "His weakness is his stand up, so I have to work on my ground defense. What's important is we win this fight." — BAP, GMA News
