ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong is eager to see a rematch between Team Lakay veteran Eduard Folayang and ONE lightweight champion Martin Nguyen in the near future.

Folayang and Nguyen collided this past November when the latter shocked the world when he stopped the Filipino with a perfectly timed right hand to snatch the ONE lightweight title.

Should Folayang win his upcoming fight against the unbeaten Kharun Atlangeriev of Russia, Sityodtong is hopeful that a rematch between Folayang and Nguyen would come to fruition.

"Eduard has a fight coming up against an undefeated Russian so he's going to have to pass that test and see how good he is. I know Eduard took a long rest and he's been training very hard," says Sityodtong.

"I personally believe that the best of Eduard is yet to come and we're going to see some amazing things out of him. Let's see how Eduard Folayang does in his next fight. That is also a rematch I want to happen, Eduard Folayang and Martin Nguyen down the road."

Admittedly a fan of both fighters, Sityodtong believes that the last showdown between Folayang and Nguyen left a question mark that can only be answered when the two fighters square off for the second time.

"They have a lot of tremendous respect for each other and there's real friendship with each other, but I think they also have unfinished business they want to take care of," told Sityodtong.

"Martin acknowledges that Eduard is a phenomenal fighter and he wants to prove to the world that knockout punch wasn't a lucky one. Eduard of course wants to prove that was a lucky punch. There's a little bit of drama and storyline so I think it's going to be great for the fans." — BAP, GMA News
