After losing their last game against Kaya Football Club (FC) Iloilo in this year’s Philippine Football League (PFL), home team Ceres Negros FC is eyeing a win against visiting Davao Aguilas FC in tonight’s match at Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Ceres Negros FC Assistant Ian Treyes, in a pre-match press conference Tuesday night, said the game against Davao Aguilas is going to be “another story” as they prepared much for it.

Treyes said after the home team, who earned a spot at the AFC Cup Asean Zonal Finals by having the highest aggregate score against Yangon United in Myanmar, gained enough rest.

They are now ready for another match against the Davao team.

“All the players have rested and recovered from injuries thus, it is going to be a different ball game against Aguilas,” he said, adding that “though, we consider the opponent as strong as Kaya FC.”

For Davao Aguilas’ part, coach Marlon Maro said the team is ready to do two things: (1) avenge its previous 2-0 loss to Ceres FC during their first face-off and (2) end their losing streak.

Though it is an advantage for Ceres FC players to play at their home court Panaad Stadium, Maro said they will not make this “outside factor” as an excuse to be disturbed and lose the game.

“We were able to play at Panaad before. We know the place, crowd and even some of the Ceres players. We will also take this as an advantage,” he said, adding that “with more crowed, we are also motivated to win.”

The game, which will start at 7 p.m., is expected to draw thousands of football enthusiasts in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental. — LA, GMA News
