PASAY - Former SEA Games Wushu gold medalist Rene Catalan extended his winning streak to five following a dominant performance over previously unbeaten Stefer Rahardian of Indonesia in the preliminary of "ONE: Reign of Kings" Friday night at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay

Catalan started the contest with hard leg kicks that the visiting foe immediately felt. Less than half way through the round, Catalan landed a right hand on top that wobbled Rahardian. The Filipino fighter also went for a guillotine choke but the fighters ended on their feet after the first five minutes.

In round two, Catalan landed a swift left hook that visibly rocked Rahardian. The Indonesian ultimately took the fight to the mat, but Catalan showcased a highly improved ground game and never came close to getting submitted.

It was a slow start in round three as both fighters barely threw anything at all in the first half of the final round. Seemingly clueless on how to turn the fight in his favor, Rahardian was mostly retreated until the final bell.

All three judges awarded the fight to Catalan after three five minute rounds, he improved his record to 5-2-1 while Rahardian tasted his first defeat as he fell to 9-1. — DVM, GMA News
