Team Lakay's Joshua Pacio pops foe's shoulder in the first round
PASAY - Young phenom Joshua Pacio of Baguio City's Team Lakay scored yet another spectacular submission victory this time against the previously unbeaten Pongsiri Mitsatit of Thailand in the preliminary of "ONE: Reign of Kings" Friday night at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
Pacio, 22, was quick to take the contest to the ground after he caught Mitsatit's first leg kick in the opening round. It was all Pacio the moment the fight got on the mat as he rained down elbows and punches on his overwhelmed opponent.
Mitsatit's attempt to crawl back up gave Pacio an opening to take his back and look for a rear naked choke. The Filipino fighter improvised instead then pulled a rare arm lock that popped the Thai's left shoulder at the 3:37 mark of round one.
It was Pacio's second victory by submission in a couple of fights this year, improving his record to 12-2 while Mitsatit suffered his first loss as he fell to 9-1. — DVM, GMA News
