Eduard Folayang outpoints Russian foe in ‘ONE: Reign of Kings’
PASAY - Former ONE lightweight champion Eduard Folayang of Team Lakay added yet another victory on his resume following a unanimous decision nod over the previously unbeaten Aziz Pahrudinov on the undercard of "ONE: Reign of Kings" Friday night at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
It was all Folayang in the first round as he opened the contest with leg kicks and stopped Pahrudinov's initial takedown attempt. The Russian eventually brought the fight on the mat in the final minute, but was unable to deal significant damage on Folayang.
Round two was more of the same as Pahrudinov started limping after all the leg kicks he he took from Folayang. A failed leg kick from Pahrudinov allowed the Filipino to score a takedown, but they quickly got back on their feet and exchanged hard punches.
Pahrudinov went straight for the takedown in the opening second of round three. They spent the better half of the final round trading strikes with one of Pahrudinov's left hook managing to stun Folayang.
All three judges scored the fight for Folayang, who improved his record to 20-6, while Pahrudinov suffered his first defeat as he fell to 20-1-1. — DVM, GMA News
