Kevin Belingon puts on striking clinic in win against Martin Nguyen

Kevin Belingon is the newest champion from Team Lakay after he captured the ONE interim bantamweight title following a dominant performance against two-division champion Martin Nguyen in the main event of 'ONE: Reign of Kings' Friday night at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Belingon opened the contest with fast kicks while Nguyen attempted several takedown attempts that the former were able to stop.
The two-division champion Nguyen never found his mark in round two as he missed kick after kick.
Belingon, meanwhile, hit his foe with every chance and opening he got.
Belingon was both patient and tactical in round three.
The Filipino punched and kicked with very small openings Nguyen gave and stuffed all of Nguyen's takedown attempts.
Nguyen was finally able to land a couple of clean kicks in round 4, but the round was highlighted by Belingon's explosive strikes and flying kick.
Outlanded in the striking department throughout entire fight, Nguyen shot for takedowns in the fifth and final round.
Nguyen tried to pull every trick in the book he has including his dreaded looping right kick, but none of it worked against the fast Filipino fighter.
After five five-minute rounds, Belingon was crowned as the new ONE interim bantamweight champion and improved his record to 19-5. Nguyen, meanwhile, dropped his record to 11-3. — BAP, GMA News
