PHL Olympian Ian Lariba passes away
Table tennis national athlete Ian Lariba passed away on Sunday night, the Philippine Sports Commission announced via Twitter.
Our deepest condolences to the family of Olympian and Table Tennis national athlete Yanyan Lariba (@supersaiYAAAN) who passed away tonight after a brave fight against cancer.

"Our deepest condolences to the family of Olympian and Table Tennis national athlete Yanyan Lariba who passed away tonight after a brave fight against cancer. You are truly loved and shall be greatly missed," PSC said.
Lariba was diagnosed with acute myoid leukemia last year. According to the DLSU Office of Sports Development, Lariba's leukemia relapsed on August 16, 2018, and that she was to stay in the hospital for three more weeks.

The table tennis athlete was part of the Philippine delegation to the 2016 Rio Olympics. During her stint in De La Salle University, she was awarded the UAAP Most Valuable Player award twice. She also had a record of winning all of her individual games in her collegiate career, according to DLSU student publication The LaSallian. —KBK, GMA News
