PHL fencers snag 2 bronze medals in SEA Games

Filipino fencers captured two bronze medals in team events at the Southeast Asian Games on Friday at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

In women's team foil, the quartet of Maxine Esteban, Samantha Catantan, Wilhelmina Lozada, and Justine Tinio bowed to the Vietnamese squad, 45-36, in the semifinals.

In men's team sabre, the team of CJ Concepcion, Donnie Navarro, Eric Brando II, and Daniel Villanueva also lost to Vietnam in the semifinals, 45-38.

Both teams were assured of a bronze after advancing to the semis.
