MMA star Rene Catalan scores SEA Games silver in sambo

Rene Catalan added another medal for the Philippines with his silver finish in the medal match for the 57kg men's combat sambo of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Friday at the Angeles University Foundation in Pampanga.

Indonesian Fajar scored 11 against Catalan's 3 in the gold medal match.

This is the Philippines first silver medal in sambo.

In the mixed team, Helen Aclopen, Mariane Mariano, Jedd Andre Kim, Renzo Cazeñas, and Patrick Dos Santos claimed the bronze medal after losing to Thailand in the semifinals.
